Samantha: unstoppable cross-fit Athlete even during pregnancy

Being active is an important part of my life and I knew that wouldn’t change when I found out I was pregnant. I’ve been a CrossFit athlete for the past eight years, training 4-5x/week for about two hours a day. I was fortunate to have a healthy pregnancy that allowed me to continue training up until two days before I delivered. There are so many benefits for both mom and baby by continuing to exercise during pregnancy. It's safe to continue whatever you were doing prior to pregnancy as long as your pregnancy is uncomplicated and you have your OB's approval.

Exercising tends to make labor, delivery, and recovery much easier. I only labored for about 8-9 hours, and pushed for 20-30 minutes. I’ve heard of some first time moms pushing for hours - I truly think being fit and having a strong core helped a lot! I also felt like recovery was very easy and I was ready to get back to working out (gently) by the end of week two postpartum. Now at eight weeks postpartum, I am back to doing most movements that I did before while continuing to rehab my core. One important part of being active is recovery, especially when pregnant. I wanted to make sure I was doing everything I could to take care of my body as it changed throughout pregnancy.

I found Revolution through an internet search and I was immediately impressed by the positive reviews. The staff and docs are all so friendly and caring! I appreciated that they took the time to assess any current issues and formulated a plan for me to follow until delivery. While I didn’t go in with any major aches or pains, I felt that keeping up with regular chiropractic care helped significantly when I did have some occasional sciatic and pelvic pain that came up towards the end of my pregnancy. I still look forward to my appointments and plan to continue regular care. I highly recommend Revolution to anyone, pregnant or not! Taking care of your body is especially important during pregnancy. Maintaining a regular exercise routine and seeking out chiropractic care are just a few things that helped me feel my best both during and after pregnancy!
