Sydney: Her journey of becoming a mother

I guess you could say my birth story started after moving to Jacksonville and searching for a new chiropractic office. I was looking for one that practiced the Webster method and was familiar with working with pregnant women. I was nowhere near thinking about pregnancy but knew I wanted to set myself up for that in the future. I started with Revolution during the pandemic heavy times (2020). My body had a couple years lapse in adjustments and now with a pandemic looming I knew I needed to get my nervous system in check. Thus my relationship with the beautiful practice started.

Fast forward to July 2022 when I found out I was pregnant and was going to welcome my first baby in March of 2023. My official prenatal program started shortly after 6 weeks pregnant and I was thankful I was going to have these adjustments to help support my growing body. Being that this was my first pregnancy, I don’t have much personal comparison, but I had an enjoyable pregnancy. I was not completely symptom free but most everything that popped up was managed with adjustments. At 24 weeks, my ultrasound revealed that little miss was Frank breech; but there was still plenty of time and room for her to move. The weeks went by and she was not budging from her cozy spot in my womb. Despite adjustments, spinning babies movements, homeopathics and staying active this girl was staying put. Around 38 weeks my OB recommended the one thing I did everything to avoid. I was devastated, I felt broken. But after reading, processing and making decisions I elected to move forward with a scheduled c-section. I trusted my body, I trusted the people who had cared after me for the past 39 weeks and I just wanted my daughter here with what I felt was safest.

I am not sharing this to say chiropractic doesn’t help with avoiding c-sections, or recommended movements to encourage the baby to move don’t work or that homeopathics are bogus; I still advocate that they do help most of the time. I am here to share that all of those helped me find peace with how I was destined to bring my daughter into the world. When I was faced with a c-section I realized that minimal positive stories exist around cesarean deliveries and I want to help change that. I believe that chiropractic adjustments helped keep my nervous system happy and my overall body happy so that I could heal quickly. My birth experience, although not what I thought I wanted, ended up a beautiful start to motherhood. There will never be enough words to thank the amazing team at Revolution for their support during this huge life milestone and I’m grateful they will continue to be in my future navigating motherhood and helping my daughter develop in the best way she can.
